Description: The VERONA was built in 1907 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The Verona is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 480 feet, and a width of 52 feet. It displaces 6186 tons, and has a load capacity of 4765 tons. It entered service in the year 1907 under the ownership of Lackawanna Steamship Co. (Pickands, Mather & Co., Mgr.) of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Passed downbound, Port Colborne, June 6, 1969, under own power, on last trip. Arrived in tow, Newport, Monmouthshire, Great Britain, July 19, 1969, for scrapping by John Cashmore, Ltd. The photograph shows the Verona under way on the Great Lakes.
