The DOUGLASS HOUGHTON was built in 1899 by Globe Iron Works at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Douglass Houghton is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 456 feet, and a width of 50 feet. It displaces 5332 tons, and has a load capacity of 4034 tons. It entered service in the year 1899 under the ownership of Bessemer Steamship Co. of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold in Spring, 1969, to Toronto Harbour Commissioners and sunk as landfill for Ontario Government Pavilion, Canadian National Exposition Grounds, just west of west gap, in August, 1969.
