Description: The NORTHERN KING was built in 1888 by Globe Iron Works at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Northern King is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 299 feet, and a width of 40 feet. It displaces 2476 tons, and has a load capacity of 1885 tons. It entered service in the year 1888 under the ownership of Northern Steamship Co. of Duluth, MN U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Transferred to Italian registry in December, 1924. Scrapped in Italy in 1926. The photograph shows the Northern King under way on the Great Lakes. More information about this vessel is available at the HCGL Website
