Description: The LAKE HARNEY was built in 1918 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The Lake Harney is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 251 feet, and a width of 43 feet. It displaces 2013 tons, and has a load capacity of 1242 tons. It entered service in the year 1917 under the ownership of U.S. Shipping Board of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Became constructive total loss after stranding, February 21, 1958, off Zanzibar (at Mwemba Island). Released and departed Zanzibar, March 18, 1959, under tow for Dar-es-Salaam, for scrapping. The photograph shows the Lake Harney at Lorain, OH.
