Description: The CHARLES HUBBARD was built in 1907 by Toledo Shipbuilding Co. at Toledo, OH U.S. The Charles Hubbard is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 438 feet, and a width of 52 feet. It displaces 4846 tons, and has a load capacity of 4287 tons. It entered service in the year 1907 under the ownership of L.C. Smith Transportation Co. of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold by U.S. Maritime Commission, July 29, 1966, to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co., Chicago, IL, and scuttled as temporary breakwater during construction of Burns Harbor, IN, in 1967.
