Description: The CITY OF TOLEDO was built in 1891 by Craig Ship Building Co. at Toledo, OH U.S. The City Of Toledo is a steel hulled steamer with a length of 212 feet, and a width of 31 feet. It displaces 1003 tons, and has a load capacity of 654 tons. It entered service in the year 1891 under the ownership of Toledo & Islands Steamship Co. of Toledo, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: After lying idle from 1941, passed down, Port Colborne, October 19, 1947, in tow of tugs THISTLE and HELENA, bound for Hamilton, Ontario. Scrapped there in 1948 by Steel Co. of Canada, Ltd. The photograph shows the City Of Toledo under way on the Great Lakes. More information about this vessel is available at the HCGL Website
