Description: The HARVEY BISSELL was built in 1866 by Albert Little at Toledo, OH U.S. The Harvey Bissell is a wood hulled bark with a length of 162 feet, and a width of 33 feet. It displaces 496 tons, and has a load capacity of 472 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: While entering False Presque Isle Harbor, Lake Huron, for weather, in tow of propeller DAVID W. RUST, on November 24, 1905, barge took a sudden sheer and stranded on east side of harbor, a total loss. The photograph shows the Harvey Bissell under way on the Great Lakes.
