Description: The HURON was built in 1898 by Cleveland Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The Huron is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 238 feet, and a width of 42 feet. It displaces 1945 tons, and has a load capacity of 1309 tons. It entered service in the year 1898 under the ownership of Lower Lakes Steamship Co. of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sunk by collision with steamer CETUS in fog off Caribou Island, Lake Superior, October 11, 1923, upbound light.
