Description: The NAIAD was built in 1863 by John F. Squires at Huron, OH U.S. The Naiad is a wood hulled bark with a length of 141 feet, and a width of 29 feet. It displaces 439 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Became waterlogged and unmanageable about twenty miles east of Au Sable, MI, Saginaw Bay, on October 22, 1911. Crew rescued by propeller ISAAC L. ELLWOOD. Derelict towed into Harbor Beach, MI, on October 24, 1911, and abandoned by owner. The photograph shows the Naiad under way on the Great Lakes.
