Description: The MATOA was built in 1890 by Globe Iron Works at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Matoa is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 290 feet, and a width of 40 feet. It displaces 2311 tons, and has a load capacity of 1836 tons. It entered service in the year 1890 under the ownership of Minnesota Steamship Co. of Duluth, MN U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Scrapped at Midland, Ontario, in 1937. The photograph shows the Matoa at Pittsburgh, PA. More information about this vessel is available at the HCGL Website
