The GLOBE was built in 1894 by Globe Iron Works at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Globe is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 330 feet, and a width of 42 feet. It displaces 2995 tons, and has a load capacity of 2278 tons. It entered service in the year 1894 under the ownership of Globe Iron Works, Joseph H. Ball, Trustee of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Traverse cranes added in 1961 for package freight handling. Laid up at Port Weller Dry Docks, Ltd., St. Catharines, Ontario, in 1963. Dismantling by A. Newman & Co., Ltd., began on February 4, 1965, at same place. The photograph shows the Globe under way on the Great Lakes.
