Description: The HERBERT F. BLACK was built in 1916 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The Herbert F. Black is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 504 feet, and a width of 54 feet. It displaces 6262 tons, and has a load capacity of 4824 tons. It entered service in the year 1916 under the ownership of Donner Steamship Co. (M.A. Hanna Co., Mgr.) of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Passed down, Port Colborne, July 19, 1964, in tow of tugs FOUNDATION VALIANT and FOUNDATION VIBERT. Towed to Bremen, Germany, arriving August 26, 1964. Sold to Eckhardt & Co., Hamburg, Germany, and arrived there on September 24, 1964, for scrapping. The photograph shows the Herbert F.
