Description: The CASTALIA was built in 1890 by Globe Iron Works at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Castalia is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 292 feet, and a width of 40 feet. It displaces 2512 tons, and has a load capacity of 1840 tons. It entered service in the year 1890 under the ownership of H.H. Brown & Co. of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: On first voyage after being rejoined, Montreal for Boston, foundered off Sable Island, Newfoundland, on January 11, 1919.
