Description: The ATMOSPHERE was built in 1863 by William Shupe at Milan, OH U.S. The Atmosphere is a wood hulled schooner with a length of 134 feet, and a width of 25 feet. It displaces 275 tons, and has a load capacity of 261 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Abandoned as unfit for service. Final enrollment surrendered at Port Huron, MI, on May 21, 1924. The photograph shows the Atmosphere under way on the Great Lakes. More information about this vessel is available at the HCGL Website
