The ERNEST T. WEIR was built in 1953 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The Ernest T. Weir is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 671 feet, and a width of 70 feet. It displaces 12746 tons, and has a load capacity of 7968 tons. It entered service in the year 1953 under the ownership of National Steel Corp.
