Description: The MESSENGER was built in 1866 by Peck & Masters at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Messenger is a wood hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 150 feet, and a width of 25 feet. It displaces 444 tons, and has a load capacity of 341 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Caught fire at Rogers City, MI, and drifted out into Lake Huron. Last seen burning about five miles into lake, c.November 10, 1890. Final enrollment surrendered at Detroit, MI, October 29, 1891, and endorsed "vessel lost."
