The AMARANTH was built in 1864 by William Shupe (Valentine Fries - master builder) at Milan, OH U.S. The Amaranth is a wood hulled schooner with 2 masts, a length of 134 feet, and a width of 25 feet. It displaces 330 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Driven ashore above Port Huron, MI, Lake Huron, in fog and storm, September 7, 1901, and became constructive total loss.
