Description: The DEAN RICHMOND was built in 1864 by Quayle & Martin at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Dean Richmond is a wood hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 238 feet, and a width of 34 feet. It displaces 1083 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Foundered off Dunkirk, NY, Lake Erie, on October 14, 1893; seventeen out of eighteen lives lost. Final enrollment surrendered at Port Huron, MI, November 15, 1893. The photograph shows the Dean Richmond under way on the Great Lakes.
