Description: The THOUSAND ISLANDER was built in 1912 by Toledo Shipbuilding Co. at Toledo, OH U.S. The Thousand Islander is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 163 feet, and a width of 33 feet. It displaces 355 tons, and has a load capacity of 241 tons. It entered service in the year 1912 under the ownership of Thousand Island Steamboat Co. of Cape Vincent, NY U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Foundered November 21, 1928, about twenty-six miles southeast of Thunder Bay Island, Lake Huron, while in tow of propeller COLLINGWOOD; no lives lost.
