The VERONA was built in 1873 by Quayle & Murphy at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Verona is a wood hulled schooner with 3 masts, a length of 189 feet, and a width of 34 feet. It displaces 728 tons, and has a load capacity of 691 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Beached by spring freshet in Maumee River, Toledo, OH, in winter, 1903-1904. When Mitchell & Rowland Lumber Co. yard burned on September 2, 1904, vessel, still beached, burned to total loss. Final enrollment surrendered at Cleveland, OH, on March 31, 1905, with notation, "vessel lost." The photograph shows the Verona under way on the Great Lakes.
