The GEORGE W. PEAVEY was built in 1901 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The George W. Peavey is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 430 feet, and a width of 50 feet. It displaces 4997 tons, and has a load capacity of 3861 tons. It entered service in the year 1901 under the ownership of Peavey Steamship Co. (A.B. Wolvin, Mgr.) of Duluth, MN U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Scrapped by Steel Co., of Canada, Ltd., at Hamilton, Ont., 1947. After lying at Erie, PA, 1945-1947, passed down, Port Colborne, May 3, 1947, in tow of tugs HELENA and TOWMASTER bound for Hamilton, Ont. The photograph shows the George W.
