The AM-261 (MAINSTAY) was built in 1944 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The Am-261 (Mainstay) is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 184 feet, and a width of 33 feet. It entered service in the year 1944 under the ownership of United States Navy of Washington, DC U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Stricken from Navy List on December 1, 1959.
