The GLOBE was built in 1846 by David R. Stebbins at Maumee, OH U.S. The Globe is a wood hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 143 feet, and a width of 24 feet. It displaces 313 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Driven ashore in Pigeon Bay, near Leamington, Ontario, Lake Erie, along with barges DAVID MORRIS and SAGINAW, on October 21, 1873, and reportedly went to pieces. Last enrollment surrendered at Port Huron, MI, on July 17, 1878, and endorsed "abandoned at Buffalo, NY, in 1875." The photograph shows the Globe at Buffalo, NY.
