The JOSHUA W. RHODES was built in 1906 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The Joshua W. Rhodes is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 420 feet, and a width of 52 feet. It displaces 4871 tons, and has a load capacity of 3586 tons. It entered service in the year 1906 under the ownership of Valley Steamship Co. (W.H. Becker, Mgr.) of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold in spring, 1961, to Marine Salvage, Ltd., Port Colborne, Ont. Arrived in tow, Genoa, Italy, August 11, 1962, for scrapping by Spett Italsider Sp.A. The photograph shows the Joshua W. Rhodes under way on the Great Lakes.
