Description: The H.H. PORTER was built in 1920 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The H.H. Porter is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 580 feet, and a width of 60 feet. It displaces 8262 tons, and has a load capacity of 6436 tons. It entered service in the year 1920 under the ownership of Brier Hill Steamship Co. of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold to shipbreakers in Thunder Bay, Ont., for scrapping (Western Metals). Cleared South Chicago for Thunder Bay, July 2, 1976, in tow of a McLean tug. Removed from documentation in July, 1976. The photograph shows the H.H. Porter at Lorain, OH; American Ship Building Co.
