Description: The LAKE FARISTELL was built in 1918 by American Ship Building Co. at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Lake Faristell is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 251 feet, and a width of 43 feet. It displaces 2624 tons, and has a load capacity of 1626 tons. It entered service in the year 1918 under the ownership of U.S. Shipping Board of Washington, DC U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Stranded near Cape Cod, MA, September 7, 1953, while on voyage from St. John's, Newfoundland, for Baltimore, MD. Refloated and towed to Boston, MA by salvage vessel CURB. Declared a constructive total loss and arrived at Baltimore, MD, on May 30, 1954, for scrapping by Patapsco Scrap Co.
