Holmes is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 420 feet, and a width of 50 feet. It displaces 4787 tons, and has a load capacity of 3517 tons. It entered service in the year 1904 under the ownership of Acme Transit Co. (W.A. Hawgood, Mgr.) of Cleveland, OH U.S. The photograph shows the Edwin F. Holmes under way on the Great Lakes.
