Description: The LAKE FLUVANNA was built in 1918 by American Ship Building Co. at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Lake Fluvanna is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 251 feet, and a width of 43 feet. It displaces 2349 tons, and has a load capacity of 1448 tons. It entered service in the year 1918 under the ownership of U.S. Shipping Board of Washington, DC U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Heavily damaged by aircraft in raid on Valencia, Spain, during Spanish Civil War, on September 15, 1937. Eight days after coming out of shipyard, was sunk by Insurgent aircraft sixteen miles off Cape San Sebastian, Spain, on October 30, 1937. The photograph shows the Lake Fluvanna at Cleveland, OH.
