The WILLIAM A. IRVIN was built in 1938 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The William A. Irvin is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 593 feet, and a width of 60 feet. It displaces 8240 tons, and has a load capacity of 6072 tons. It entered service in the year 1938 under the ownership of Pittsburgh Steamship Co. of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: In 1986, became a floating museum ship in Duluth, MN.
