Description: The C. HICKOX was built in 1873 by Henry D. Root at Black River (Lorain), OH U.S. The C. Hickox is a wood hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 130 feet, and a width of 24 feet. It displaces 314 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Burned off Main Duck Island, Lake Ontario, December 4, 1906, bound from Oswego, NY, for Belleville, Ontario, with cargo of coal. No lives lost. The photograph shows the C. Hickox under way on the Great Lakes. More information about this vessel is available at the HCGL Website
