The DEAN RICHMOND was built in 1856 by Quayle & Martin at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Dean Richmond is a wood hulled schooner with 2 masts, a length of 134 feet, and a width of 26 feet. It displaces 379 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Departed Montreal with cargo of wheat for Liverpool, England, July 7, 1856 and arrived at Liverpool on September 17, 1856. Was sold to British buyers for $27,000. Reportedly in staves trade from England to Brazil in 1859. The photograph shows the Dean Richmond under way on the Great Lakes.
