The CHIEF WAWATAM was built in 1911 by Toledo Ship Building Co. at Toledo, OH U.S. The Chief Wawatam is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 338 feet, and a width of 62 feet. It displaces 2990 tons, and has a load capacity of 1793 tons. It entered service in the year 1911 under the ownership of Mackinac Transportation Co. of St. Ignace, MI U.S. The photograph shows the Chief Wawatam under way on the Great Lakes.
