The WILLIAM CASTLE RHODES was built in 1900 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The William Castle Rhodes is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 242 feet, and a width of 42 feet. It displaces 2176 tons, and has a load capacity of 1340 tons. It entered service in the year 1900 under the ownership of Minneapolis, St. Paul & Buffalo Steamship Co. of Buffalo, NY U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Foundered six miles northwest of Cape Djinet on August 8, 1921.
