dc.description The MARS was built in 1872 by Alexander McLeod at New Jerusalem, OH U.S. The Mars is a wood hulled barge with 2 masts, a length of 122 feet, and a width of 27 feet. It displaces 234 tons, and has a load capacity of 223 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Stranded on South Fox Island, MI, Lake Michigan, November 14, 1903, and became total loss.
