Description: The JAMES C. WALLACE was built in 1905 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The James C. Wallace is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 532 feet, and a width of 56 feet. It displaces 6684 tons, and has a load capacity of 5403 tons. It entered service in the year 1905 under the ownership of Acme Steamship Co. (A.B. Wolvin, Mgr.) of Duluth, MN U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold to Marine Salvage, Ltd., Port Colborne, Ont., in Fall, 1961. Loaded scrap at Cleveland, OH, in summer, 1962, and towed to Genoa, Italy in fall, 1962, for scrapping in winter, 1962-1963. The photograph shows the James C. Wallace at Downbound the Detroit River.
