The REPUBLIC was built in 1890 by Globe Iron Works at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Republic is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 291 feet, and a width of 40 feet. It displaces 2316 tons, and has a load capacity of 1877 tons. It entered service in the year 1890 under the ownership of Republic Iron Co. (M.A. Hanna Co., Mgrs.) of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Scrapped by International Shipbuilding Co., Danzig, in 1924. The photograph shows the Republic under way on the Great Lakes.
