The J. BURTON AYERS was built in 1943 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The J. Burton Ayers is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 604 feet, and a width of 60 feet. It displaces 8758 tons, and has a load capacity of 6472 tons. It entered service in the year 1995 under the ownership of Lower Lakes Towing Co. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold into Canadian registry and given name CUYAHOGA in 1995. The photograph shows the J. Burton Ayers at Hamilton, Ont.
