The LAKE FRUGALITY was built in 1919 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The Lake Frugality is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 251 feet, and a width of 43 feet. It displaces 2608 tons, and has a load capacity of 1613 tons. It entered service in the year 1919 under the ownership of U.S. Shipping Board of Washington, DC U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sprung a leak and abandoned by crew enroute from Hong Kong for Yokohama, Japan. Foundered about eighty miles off Swatow, China, December 12, 1959. The photograph shows the Lake Frugality under way on the Great Lakes.
