Description: The NESHOTO was built in 1889 by Thomas Sons Quayle's at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Neshoto is a wood hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 284 feet, and a width of 42 feet. It displaces 2255 tons, and has a load capacity of 1904 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Stranded 2 1/2 miles east of U.S. Life Saving Station on Crisp Point, MI, Lake Superior, in fog on September 27, 1908. Crew taken off by Life Saving crew, sixteen in all, as gale came up, driving vessel broadside to waves, and pounding her to pieces. Crew taken to Soo by steamer MAYTHAM.
