Description: The THE HARVESTER was built in 1911 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The The Harvester is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 525 feet, and a width of 58 feet. It displaces 7188 tons, and has a load capacity of 5690 tons. It entered service in the year 1911 under the ownership of Wisconsin Steel Co. of Chicago, IL U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold to Sam Simon's Acme Scrapping Co., 1977, for scrapping at Ashtabula, OH. Arrived at Ashtabula on May 24, 1977. Removed from documentation in March, 1977. Scrapping begun May 1, 1978, by Triad Salvage, Inc., at Ashtabula, OH.
