The LAKESIDE was built in 1901 by Craig Ship Building Co. at Toledo, OH U.S. The Lakeside is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 128 feet, and a width of 28 feet. It displaces 285 tons, and has a load capacity of 194 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Paid off from French Navy c.1940 at Toulon, France. Acquired by German Navy early in 1943, but plan to place her in service as S.G. 30 never happened. Apparently scrapped. The photograph shows the Lakeside at Sandusky, OH; Sandusky Bay.
