The LAWRENCE was built in 1868 by Ira Lafrinnier at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Lawrence is a wood hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 135 feet, and a width of 25 feet. It displaces 447 tons, and has a load capacity of 334 tons. It entered service in the year 1868 under the ownership of Northern Transportation Co. of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Foundered ten miles southeast of Point Peter, Lake Ontario, on August 16, 1921; no lives lost. Was on voyage from Sodus, NY for Kingston, Ontario, with cargo of coal at time of loss. The photograph shows the Lawrence under way on the Great Lakes.
