The AM-388 (TOWHEE) was built in 1945 by American Ship Building Co. at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Am-388 (Towhee) is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 221 feet, and a width of 32 feet. It entered service in the year 1945 under the ownership of United States Navy of Washington, DC U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Stricken from Navy List on May 1, 1969. Sold to Learner Co., Oakland, CA, for $37,161, presumably for scrapping. The photograph shows the Am-388 (Towhee) at Cleveland, OH.
