Description: The H.D. ROOT was built in 1863 by Henry D. Root at Black River (Lorain), OH U.S. The H.D. Root is a wood hulled schooner with a length of 94 feet, and a width of 23 feet. It displaces 116 tons, and has a load capacity of 110 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Last document surrendered at Cleveland, OH, February 7, 1899, endorsed as "dismantled." The photograph shows the H.D.
