The ANDREW CARNEGIE was built in 1897 by Cleveland Ship Building Co. at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Andrew Carnegie is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 403 feet, and a width of 48 feet. It displaces 4106 tons, and has a load capacity of 3067 tons. It entered service in the year 1897 under the ownership of Wilson Transit Co. of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Scrapped by Steel Co., of Canada, Ltd., at Hamilton, Ontario, in 1946. After lying at Erie, PA, 1945-1946, passed down, Port Colborne, October 28, 1946, in tow of tugs A.M. MCAULEY and TOWMASTER, bound for Hamilton, Ontario.
