Description: The MANOLA was built in 1890 by Globe Shipbuilding Co. at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Manola is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 282 feet, and a width of 40 feet. It displaces 2325 tons, and has a load capacity of 1835 tons. It entered service in the year 1890 under the ownership of Minnesota Steamship Co. of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Stranded on the west side of Christian Island, Georgian Bay, on November 30, 1924. Was bound for Port McNichol, Ont., with cargo of barley. After two weeks of salvage efforts, declared a total loss. Salvagers recovered c.75,000 bushels which were delivered to Midland, Ontario.
