The WILLIAM A. FIELD was built in 1909 by Great Lakes Towing Co. at Cleveland, OH U.S. The William A. Field is a steel hulled tug with a length of 71 feet, and a width of 20 feet. It displaces 114 tons, and has a load capacity of 61 tons. It entered service in the year 1909 under the ownership of Great Lakes Towing Company of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Enrollment surrendered in April 1968. Tug scrapped by Acme Scrap Metal & Iron Co., Ashtabula, OH in 1968. The photograph shows the William A. Field under way on the Great Lakes.
