Description: The NEBRASKA was built in 1867 by Peck & Masters at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Nebraska is a wood hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 267 feet, and a width of 35 feet. It displaces 1483 tons, and has a load capacity of 1362 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: While seeking shelter at South Manitou Island, MI, Lake Michigan, vessel caught fire on October 4, 1904, and burned to total loss. Final enrollment surrendered at Buffalo, NY, October 10, 1904. The photograph shows the Nebraska under way on the Great Lakes. More information about this vessel is available at the HCGL Website
