The NO. 059 was built in 1931 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The No. 059 is a steel hulled scow with a length of 222 feet, and a width of 42 feet. It displaces 1174 tons, and has a load capacity of 1174 tons. It entered service in the year 1931 under the ownership of Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co. of Chicago, IL U.S. The photograph shows the No. 059 under way on the Great Lakes.
