Description: The SAMUEL MATHER was built in 1926 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The Samuel Mather is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 586 feet, and a width of 60 feet. It displaces 8151 tons, and has a load capacity of 6442 tons. It entered service in the year 1926 under the ownership of Interlake Steamship Co. of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold to Port Maitland Shipbreaking, Ltd., Port Maitland, Ontario. Delivered to them, September 16, 1982, at Toronto, Ontario, for scrapping. The photograph shows the Samuel Mather under way on the Great Lakes.
